Congress Is A Cesspool of Corruption

If anyone watched 60 Minutes tonight (October 20, 2013), you saw how corrupt, how vile Congressmen/women and Senators are while they are in office. They lie, they cheat, they circumvent the law for their own gain. They are attorneys, mostly. They refuse to pass laws to curb their highly questionable behavior. They pass themselves pay raises in the middle of the night when, probably, 98% of citizens are asleep and unaware of the “lawmakers‘” sneaky legislation.

Recently, on my blog I posted a write-up of how legislators serve themselves, not the people who PUT them there. Legislators USED to keep in mind they are PUBLIC SERVANTS, but for many decades now, they come to us to get elected, then once elected, they slam the door in our faces then do whatever they damn well please.

Politicians are high on my list of the most despicable and hated people. They exempt themselves from many of the laws they pass that apply to the rest of us. Laws cannot be passed by anyone but them. So, they are in complete control of the way this nation is run. No, the president does not control the country. Congress can defeat him. The president, every president, has the authority to veto much of what Congress passes in the Capitol, but how often do you hear the president doing that?

If he did veto much of the Congressmen/women, he would have no friends in Congress, and a president MUST have friends in Congress. So, I include the president in the list along with the corrupt Congressmen/women.

Now, the third branch of government: the Supreme Court. Those judges are put there for LIFE! The only way off the court is by death or they resign/retire. And they are pretty much loyal to the president/political party who put them there. It does not matter to the judges, just like it does not matter to the Congress, what the people want, what the people have to say. They are just as powerful as Congress. They do whatever the hell they please, as well.

The principles of this nation were pure and good in 1776, but two hundred and more years later, this nation in Washington is as pure as a cesspool. The corruption is rampant. Democracy has decayed into something as scandalous and as crooked as any other government in this world.

WE are servants to the unethical lawyers in Washington. THEY are not servants to the public. Congress is putrid and filled with corrupt, self-serving, kings and queens who see themselves as royalty exempt from the rules of honesty, ethics, and the principles upon which this nation was founded.

My disdain, my disgust, my anger with the federal government is overflowing. I wish there was some way we could kick out all those Hell-bound thieves and replace them with Americans who have a sincere love for country and will work to return this nation to the greatness it once was 230 years ago.

One Response to Congress Is A Cesspool of Corruption

WolfPAC is attempting to pass a constitutional amendment to make elections publicly funded and remove corporations as potential donors. Personally I don’t think it’ll work – it’s evident at this point that Congress has no respect for the constitution, but at least we’ll have proven that no peaceful solution exists at that point.
