Within hours of a madman opening fire in a crowded movie theater on Aurora, Colo., gun-control advocates began to use the theater shooting spree, which left 12 dead and 71 wounded, to push their agenda.

Readers, let me clear something up right now so there will be no misunderstanding. I do not support gun control. At least, not the way the liberals want to enforce it.
I’m sure you have heard or read, “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.” No gun has ever walked out of a gun shop and started shooting people. No hammer ever walked out of a hardware store and started bashing people’s heads in. No team of arrows and bows walked out of a sporting goods store and started killing folks. You get the idea here?
Cars were not invented to kill people, and they don’t kill people. People driving those cars use the cars to kill people, intentionally or unintentionally. Two-by-fours, knives, axes, hatchets, bricks, stones–they do not kill people. People use them to kill people.
Gun control will never stop people from killing people. If someone wants a gun badly enough, they will get one. If gun control was strictly enforced and to the maximum level liberals would like to see it enforced, guns would be available just like drugs are available to anyone who wants ’em.
The problem is not with the guns, or axes, or hatchets, or hammers, or arrows, or knives, or two-by-fours. The problem is with the people.
If all American citizens were prevented from owning guns, only a goose-stepping government and criminals would have guns, and they could wreak havoc on citizens who would have no way of defending themselves except by throwing a rock.
The second amendment to the Constitution gives American citizens the right to own and bear arms. As a Disabled Veteran who is now 64 1/2 years old, I am afraid to go out at night to a bus stop to go downtown or a movie or the mall, because I know there are many young juvenile delinquents and other criminals who have guns and will use them to intimidate, mug, and rob innocent people.
Therefore, I own a handgun and a license to carry it. When I go out at night, I go out packing. I have to use a power chair for mobility. That makes me an easy target–so the criminals think. But if I am assaulted by individuals who intend to rob me, even perhaps kill me, they will be surprised to see fire exiting the muzzle of my gun as the bullets rush toward them.
No gun control. Control the people. You could probably start by teaching parents how to be the kind of parents they should be. Maybe their kids wouldn’t become juvenile delinquents and gang members headed for a life of courtrooms, jails, and prisons.
